Save Record Ridge

Hello friends, neighbours, and members of our community, local and spread far and wide!

Thanks for being here, and helping us to fight West High Yield’s plan to put an open pit mine on Record Ridge. 

So... WHY not?

• Social impacts on downtown gatherings, and businesses, as well as on events like our Golden City Days, and festivals.
• Poorly addressed health and safety concerns, including exposure to asbestos, noise & water pollution.
• Environmental concerns - damage to ecosystems, watersheds (including one at Sheep Creek that West High Yield was completely oblivious to until the community meetings), dust, wildlife displacement, and destruction of unique and irreplaceable plant species & grasslands.
• Economic impacts on retail, recreation, and tourism, including changes and possible limited access to the crown jewel of our trail network, the Seven Summits. 
• Cultural concerns, such as impacts on Indigenous land and historical significance for the Sinixt and Ktunaxa peoples.
